Spanish City is an iconic grade II listed building found in Whitley Bay on the north east coast of England. Unfortunately many years of neglect and poor quality alterations by previous owners and deterioration since its closure have left the building in a poor condition. North Tyneside council are now working hard to regenerate the building and the area around it and have made a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for financial support. it is crucial for the success of this bid that the Heritage Lottery Fund are made aware of the strength of public support for the regeneration to take place.
The next stage is an award of £182,700 to draw up detailed proposals followed by the remainder of £3.7 million to complete the works. For more information see the Chronicle report.
